What exactly is The Apothecary Bar?

The Apothecary Bar is a mobile, interactive stall where your guests create their own personalised spell jars — small glass vessels filled with dried herbs, botanicals, and crystals, finished with a wax seal. It's a hands-on, memorable favour experience that guests take home as a keepsake.

How long does each guest take at the stall?

Most guests spend around 5–10 minutes at the stall, choosing their herbs, selecting a crystal, and having their jar sealed. The experience is relaxed and unhurried — guests can browse, ask questions, and enjoy the process.

Are the jars safe?

All jars are labelled for decorative and ritual use only — they are not intended for consumption. The herbs and botanicals we use are carefully selected and handled safely. The wax seal is applied by us and is cool to the touch within moments.

Can guests choose what goes in their jar?

Yes — that's the heart of the experience. Guests browse a curated selection of dried herbs, botanicals, and crystals, each with a little card explaining its meaning or intention. They choose what resonates with them and we help them assemble and seal their jar.

Can guests with allergies still take part?

The herbs are handled, not eaten, but if any guests have skin sensitivities to specific plants, let us know in advance and we can advise or offer an alternative fill.

Question 6

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for peak wedding season (May–September). We typically ask for at least 6–8 weeks' notice to ensure we can source everything needed for your event. For larger events, earlier is always better.

Do you travel outside the North East?

Accepted Answer

Yes — we travel nationwide for the right event. Travel within a reasonable distance of County Durham is included in our pricing. For events further afield, a travel supplement may apply. Please mention your venue location in your enquiry and we'll confirm availability and any additional costs.

Question 8

How much space does the stall need?

Our stall fits comfortably in a space of approximately 2m x 1.5m, plus a little room for guests to gather. We can work in marquees, barns, function rooms, and outdoor spaces. We'll discuss your venue layout with you when planning your event.

Question 9

What do you need from the venue?

We need access to a stable, level surface for the stall and ideally a power socket nearby (for lighting). We're self-contained and bring everything else we need. We'll confirm all requirements when we finalise your booking.

What's included in the price?

All packages include the dressed stall, all materials (jars, herbs, botanicals, crystals, wax seals), our time at your event, and setup and breakdown. Packages vary by guest count and duration — full details are on our Events page.

Question 11

How does the deposit work?

Accepted Answer

We ask for a 25% non-refundable deposit to secure your date. The remaining balance is due 14 days before your event. We'll send you a clear payment schedule when you confirm your booking.

Question 12

What happens if I need to cancel?

Accepted Answer

We understand that plans can change. The 25% deposit is non-refundable as it covers our planning time and material sourcing. For cancellations more than 8 weeks before your event, no further charge applies beyond the deposit. Between 4–8 weeks, 50% of the total fee is due. Within 4 weeks, the full fee applies as stock and time will already be committed. Full terms are provided at the time of booking.

Can I upgrade or change my package after booking?

Yes — if your guest numbers change or you'd like to extend the time at your event, just get in touch as soon as possible. We'll do our best to accommodate changes, subject to availability and any difference in cost.
